Renewal – A Poem To Share

RENEWAL

How quickly the world

Can change outside

When we are told

To stay inside

Behind each door

Frightened alone

Wondering when

We might be called home

All our lives

All the distractions

Stifled, shut down

Can’t find satisfaction

All that we do

All these distractions

Gone in an instant

Total inaction

All we have left

Is who we are

The wonderful glory

Comes to the fore

The love, the self

Without any hindrance

Emerges from sleep

Shines with abundance

Freed from encumbrance

We can let ourselves shine

Show who we are

Reveal the divine

The goodness, the love

As we help each other

Brings a light to the world

Bright like no other

We think we have lost

But really we’ve gained

An insight, an opening

A relief from the pain

The pan of living

Of doing and getting

Of never enough

Who we are, forgetting

Now we can’t

We must be still

Must listen carefully

To hear God’s will

Our way of life

Has gone forever

Now we must learn

How to BE, but better

True to ourselves

Our spirit, our source

Go forward in love

Take a different course

This pain will be deep

But we WILL recover

A better way of life

We will discover

The silence, the stillness

Let us stop and be

Reflect and wonder

Ourselves truly see
